Divisional Playoffs
The best weekend of the NFL season is here and it always helps if your team is still playing. Thankfully, mine is. The Steelers will try to keep their 14 game winning streak and perfect home record going against the Jets today at 4:30 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. The last time these 2 teams met it was 3-3 going into the 4th quarter before the Steelrs scored 2 late touchdowns to close it out 17-6. This time Pittsburgh has a lot more to play for and will have all of their players back from injuries thanks to the bye week. I see the Steelers coming out throwing against a Jet secondary that has given up over 1,000 yards the last 3 games. Having Plaxico Burress back gives Big Ben his favorite target and allows the Steelers to stretch the field, grab a lead and then pound the football on the ground in the second half. Cowher tends to be a bit conservative in these games, but having seen the Jets earlier in the year, I think he will try to get some early points and make the Jets abandon Curtis Martin and the running game. Pennington is solid but I don’t think he will be able to sit back and have the time if he needs to lead New York back from a deficit. Hopefully the Steelers won’t show any rust with having last wek off.
Prediction : Steelers 24-9.
